Tags & Custom Fields
Tags and custom fields let you organise and enrich your items with structured information.
Tags
Tags are short keywords you attach to items. An item can have as many tags as you like.
Adding Tags
- While creating or editing an item, type a tag in the Tags field and press Enter to add it.
- Existing tags for the hoard are suggested as you type — you can also create new ones freely.
- To change tags on an existing item, open it and click Edit, then add or remove tags.
Tag Hierarchy
Use a colon (:) to create hierarchical tags. For example, genre:fantasy or condition:mint. This helps group related tags together when browsing your hoard's tag list.
Tag Rules
- Tags are case-insensitive —
Fantasyandfantasyare treated as the same tag. - Tags are stored with a key (used internally) and an optional display name that can be set from Hoard Settings.
Managing Tags
In Hoard Settings → Tags, you can:
- View all tags used in the hoard along with how many items use each one.
- Rename a tag's key or set a custom display name.
- Delete tags you no longer need.
- Search and sort the tag list.
In Hoard Settings → Bulk Tags, you can apply or remove tags across many items at once.
Custom Fields
Custom fields let you add structured, hoard-specific data to every item. For example, a book hoard might have fields like "Author", "ISBN", or "Read".
Setting Up Custom Fields
Go to Hoard Settings → Custom Fields to define the fields for your hoard. You can:
- Add new fields with a name and type.
- Reorder fields by dragging them.
- Delete fields (this affects all items in the hoard).
Field Types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Text | Short single-line text |
| Textarea | Longer multi-line text |
| Number | Numeric value |
| Date | A calendar date |
| Boolean | True / false toggle |
| Rating | Star rating (1–5) |
| Select | Choose from a predefined list of options |
| Link | A URL (must start with http:// or https://) |
Filling In Custom Fields
When creating or editing an item, the Custom Fields section of the form (the last accordion panel) shows all fields defined for that hoard. Fill them in as needed — they are all optional unless otherwise noted.
Custom field values are displayed on the item's detail page in the Item Details card.
