Joining Communities

How to Join

1. In the sidebar, open Communities → Discover Communities.
2. Browse or search for a community that interests you.
3. On the community's page, click Join (or Request to Join).

For Open communities you get access immediately. For Approval Required communities your request goes to the moderators, and you'll be notified when it's approved or declined. Some communities ask you to include a message with your request.

Invite Only and Closed communities can't be joined from the Join button. Unlisted communities aren't listed in Discover at all; you need a direct link.

Invitations

If someone invites you to a community, you'll receive an in-app notification (and an email). Open the notification to accept.

Roles

Every community starts with two roles, and the owner can add more custom roles with their own names, colours, and permissions.

Default role	Who has it
Founder	The person who created the community; full control
Member	Everyone else by default; can view content, post, and crosspost items and hoards

Custom roles are used to grant extra abilities, such as reviewing join requests, moderating posts, managing events, or banning users.

Being Removed from a Community

If a moderator removes or bans you from a community, you lose access to its content immediately. If the community is public and open, you can request to re-join (a ban prevents this).
